Intuitive Eating | Module One: Reject the Dieting Mentality

I'm currently following Clean and Delicious Channel on Youtube. This lady is sweet, and knows what it is like to yo-yo diet, and bounce up down with weight. So, she recently started a series about Intuitive eating on her Youtube Channel. She says this best way she changed her life is by listening to her body, and letting go of social shame. This the way to stop dieting forever. So I figured it what was worth a shot, I have been trying to find a way to sustain weight loss. I can diet with the best of them, but once it is over I fall backwards.

So, in order to stop the cycle I  need to follow each of the modules, with all of the steps included. I decided to share it with you all.

Module One: Rejecting the Diet Mentality

Step 1: Cultivate understanding curiosity, compassion, ease and forgiveness. No Bullying myself!! See the Bigger picture, separate yourself from all the information that you have been fed. So you can create your own thoughts and your own ideas, your own opinions of how you want to move forward on this journey. Notice the internal conversation that you have with yourself. What one are you using? Journal it out.


Step 2:  Evaluate your history with dieting by answering the following questions.

How old were you when you first started dieting?
How did you learn that you should be dieting?
Did anyone demonstrate it to you?
What diets did you try?
Which diets worked?
Which diets were easy?
Which diets were hard?
How did that affect you?
Were any of them sustainable?
How has this affected you?
Are you willing to walk away from this? Why or Why not?
What about it was intriguing
What are you afraid of?


Step 3: Detox your environment
Get rid of anything negative, telling/reminding you to restrict your foods, pleasure, or to count calories.
Anything to compromise your value of being.
What books are you in your house, What magazines, What shows am I watching, What social media accounts are you following via Social Media?

Start following things that support what you are doing with intuitive eating.

My Answers:

Step 1.

What tone am I using with myself?
A nagging one unfortunately, "you should be doing this, not that" , "you failed"

I would rather have a soft tone, saying you are okay, keep practicing, your making progress good for you, remember to listen to your stomach, listen with reason.

Step 2.

How old were you when you first started dieting?
9, I suffered from my first depression episode and gained weight and my mom put me on a fat free diet.
How did you learn that you should be dieting?
From my Mom and Doctor
Did anyone demonstrate it to you?
My mom, she controlled my diet, and she also did exercising in front of me. Try to fit into skinny jeans.
What diets did you try?
Fat Free, Low Fat, other diets I don't remember.
Which diets worked?
Low Fat...for a year
Which diets were easy?
None of the diets were easy.
Which diets were hard?
All of them
How did that affect you?
They were to restrictive and made me want food more.
Were any of them sustainable?
No, they made me feel bad for liking sugar.
How has this affected you?
I think I should restrict my self, I never feel full. I'm 140lbs overweight now.
Are you willing to walk away from this? Why or Why not?
Yes!! Absolutely, I want something more sustainable, and feel more intune with my body.
What about it was intriguing?
Control, regimen, fast weight loss.
What are you afraid of?
Losing control, and gaining all the weight back again. Like I have done already.
